Tau Mall is a sprawling complex situated along the A35 highway, which connects Ghanzi with Maun, the capital of the Ngami District, the mall which has only been in operation for the past six years, sits adjacent to the Ghanzi Airstrip and the Department of tourism offices, a location making it a bustling centre of multicultural interaction as revellers and travellers go about their daily lives, meeting new people and establishing new relationships. This mall has not only added vibrancy to the old town, but with more than 20 occupants the mall has contributed immensely in creating employment opportunities to multitudes in the township, creating an income stream for many families and thus directly improving the living standards of the Ghanzicommunity.

A BUSTLING CENTER FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE
In addition to the immense economic benefits, the goods and services provided by businesses and organizations occupying the shopping complex are essential to private individuals and businesses alike, this is especially true for small businesses who are able to access swift financial institutions and the services they provide, this includes FNB, Bank ABC amongst others, a feat which was costly and tiresome just five years ago, as one had to travel long distances to the capital city Gaborone. Access to the services of these private and government institutions enables small businesses to access credit and other financial services which businesses need in order to grow and thrive. The growth and success of these businesses mean more people can be employed thus mall spurs a trickledown effect in the local economy which ultimately benefits the Ghanzicommunity as a whole, the mall is considered as a single entity is possibly the biggest private employer in Ghanzi.

In addition to the economic and social effects, the elaborate complex has also contributed tremendously to the township infrastructural layout, beautifying and modernizing the landscape of the Farming town. Taking a stroll in the mall leaves one with a sense of inclusivity in the 21st century, providing a brief but welcome escape from the often dull and rural backdrop of the township. Albeit only being in existence for a mere 5 years, the mall has been a welcome development and has contributed invaluably to Ghanzi, and has reawakened a spirit of optimism for the future to many residents in the old township.
