WHICH PLACES DID YOU VISIT (PLACE AND DISTRICT) IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS?
We visited Shakawe in the Okavango Sub-District, for fishing in the Okavango River and stayed in a houseboat for 4 nights. Then went on a hunting trip in the Ghanzi District for 4 nights as well and stayed on a game farm. Hunting for over four days, we managed to take an Eland bull and a crafty old Wilder Beast, finding these animals, ga se mme mpha bogobe, bathong tlaabo le sale ke kubugile, anyway that’s why it’s called hunting right?. From there we flew to Victoria Falls to have a look at the falls, it is a great view from the sky. We also embarked on a day trip to the ancestral home “The Tsodilo Hills” where we took pictures of the rock paintings which are said to be over 3 thousand years old, yeeelang! and I was born yesterday and they are still as visible. Unbelievable!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT PARTICULAR PLACE?
Well, it’s about what these places have and what they are known for, which is the game, water walls, and hills, something to see and create memories about. I love going out in the bush, away from the hectic and chaotic lifestyle. It is indeed therapeutic and minds freeing.
WAS IT A SOLO OR GROUP TRAVEL?
It was a Group Trip (with friends).
SEASON OF YOUR VISIT?
Summer! Of course, the first thing that comes to mind when travelling in summer is the comfortable weather. The nice warmth of the summer months allows, nature is all green, animals are coming out to drink water, birds are singing. Everyone is happy!
WHO WAS YOUR TRAVEL GUIDE & ACCOMMODATION PROVIDER?
For the fishing trip we were hosted by Kubu Queen, for the Tsodilo trip, our guide was Mr Xomae and for our hunting trip in Ghanzi, Amanda Bachmayer hosted us. For our trip to Victoria Falls, we stayed in Victoria falls hotel which is more than a century old “A 5-star luxury icon in Africa “.
THE UNEXPECTED THAT HAPPENED (GOOD/BAD)
I will say the most exciting part about the Victoria falls trip was flying with a helicopter from Maun straight into the Victoria falls Town, it was my first, so it was fun and exciting. We landed in Khwai for a few minutes, popped champagne ngwanaka, just a little celebration before heading to our destination. Throughout the trip we spotted some of the Big 5 like elephants and hippos, I couldn’t stop taking pictures. It was a thrilling experience.
WHAT WAS THE MOST INTERESTING ACTIVITY DURING TRAVEL?
Honestly, I loved the fishing trip because it was my first, I caught 8 fish in 2 days, both Tiger and catfish. I caught a 15 pounds catfish, sick for a beginner, i think! getting that fish on the boat was an enormous task. I am sure anyone will retire after finishing. My friends now call me “The catfish Queen”, I am waiting for the next fishing trip to see who will defeat me and take my crown, haha! Can you believe I was on the same boat that Prince Harry was, the last time he was in the country, yeah I know, don’t say it, don’t scream, contain it, hahaha! I am feeling myself, o utlwa hela gotwe “Prince Harry kana o ne a ntse ha o ntseng teng hoo” yeeeei.
WHAT WAS THE WEIRDEST THING THAT YOU EXPERIENCED?
Honestly, there were non. I was in an adventurous mode.
WHICH LOCAL PLACE ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO VISITING?
Honestly, I have been to many tourist attraction places in this country but I am looking forward to visiting Gwihaba caves and Goo Moremi Gorge.
